When traveling - even in your own country- leave the expensive jewelry behind. Wife got a nice spare (faux) wedding ring several years back just for traveling.
yep ive come to this comclusion mysef. i have very nice jewlery, but will take the fakes, and costume stuff with me. dont want to take any chances. maid has never touched anything. i forgot wedding rings once. went back to the room, had a heart attack, and put it away fast!! but drinking partying ect. can make some forgetful
Stacia did the exact same thing on our honeymoon. She bought a simple silver wedding band, which she still wears when traveling, and all of her "good stuff" stays at home. Hmmm, well, not ALL of her good stuff, I mean her jewelry.
Well I lost my swaroski bracelet while dancing at patyo's last year. The bracelet was doomed from the start as it has fallen off my wrist at least 10 times before but had always found it way back. This year I am leaving the rings at home, but may not be wearing any cause fake doesn't come in a size 4. I bought a fake one and it seemed to be okay in the store but get it home and take it off the paper thing and nope it's way to big.
All of the wife's expensive jewelry is insured which certainly makes for less stress while wearing it and travelling.
Another good travel tip when traveling internationally, scan a copy of your passports and email them to an easily accessible e-mail account (yahoo, g-mail, etc). If your passport goes missing, you can easily access a copy of it by finding internet access. Cuts the wait time at the embassy/immigration WAY down.
