I've had an FM3 for 3 years, going on to year #4. I will begin the renewal process on March 20/13. Anyone know approximately how long it will take? FYI, Mauricio does these for me, and will this year too.

To whatever time it used to take, add 4 weeks for it to come back from Mexico City, as all cards are now issued there.

My entire process started when I handed my FM and passport to the HR department at work on Dec 17th. I got my card back from HR on Feb 28th. This included time that INM was closed for the Holidays. No complaints here!!!!

So, I should forget about the 2 weeks exactly it took last year, using Mauricio the Magnificent - whom I'll be using again this year?

    Not unless you want to....

There's nothing he can do about the fact that the cards, once approved locally, must come through/from Mexico City.

So let me get this right, V... the approval can be done locally in the usual time - but now there's a new step, which is sending the local approval to DF for the sole purpose of making the cards!??!

I don't think it's just that: I suppose the real reason is an attempt to establish greater oversight, but it's coming at a cost of greatly slowing down the issuance of the cards.

Over time they will make adjustments and improve the flow, I expect; also, right now they are working through a backlog of cases but appear to be catching up this month, if the number of people appearing to pick up their cards is any indication.

    davisod,

I had to rewew in Oct and it took 12 days and I didn't even put pressure on anyone.

Using V and Tori, say two weeks for the processing, add the time the country shut down for the holidays, and four weeks for DF and there you have about the time it took Tori.

Plan on 2 months and hope for 6 weeks.
