Silly question, but does anyone know if you can pack cans of Mountain Dew in your checked bag to bring to Cancun?? When we went down to Cancun in July, we were astounded that we could not find Mountain Dew ANYWHERE and I *desperately* need it to help me wake up in the morning when I am hungover... and I am expecting to be that a lot during our trip to TTR next week. Anyone, help please! :daveandmo:
I can't imagine the TSA letting you bring sealed cans through the security checkpoint on the USA side. When we went in July we couldn't even walk through while drinking a cup of coffee. Their website has a long list of do's and do nots. I'd expect yours is going to be a "dew-not"
I think checked bags you should be okay....you might want to put them in ziplocks just in case though.......it's tough having to suck the dew out of your clothes in the morning just to get your fix! :banghead:
I am not sure if there is an issue with it but I take the mini cans of Diet coke with me because I cant stand the coke light in mexico.. I was checked at customes going in to cancun, they didnt say anything and didnt take them from me..I just put them in zip lock bags in my checked suitcase..
You probably can put it in checked baggage, I could have sworn I seen it down there it's usally my drink of choice but down there I go from coffee to MI TIES
Thank you, everyone! I think we will give it a try. I mean, what is the worst thing that can happen? They will take it away??? I think I have to try. When we were down in July (at a different resort, not TTR), we even offered to give our favorite bartender upwards of $100 to track some down for us and let us know where we could find it. But, he had never heard of it, and I was stuck... hungover and dew-less, definitely not a good combo!
That's weird... Somebody mentioned that they hunted ALL OVER for Mountain Dew when we were at TTR and said they FINALLY found a can after like 6 or 8 places and it was like $5 for a can lol... Yes you will be fine if its in your checked bags.
in the past i have hunted all over cancun for some sugar free rockstar and couldn't find it, so the last time i went i took quite a few cans with me in my checked bag without any problems. just make sure u put them in a ziplock bag and also make sure u don't go over your wt limit on your bag. good luck
