thats crazy....I agree that the kids can make cards that go to someone 'important' in their life. I lost my mom when I was 12....and I couldn't imagine having a mother's day 'banned' from school to help me feel better....no matter what, those kids are going to remember and have the feelings....not just on Mother's Day.
Well, shoot, anyone who cares for you fills the role of parent and I suppose I believe that they (aunt, grandmother, friend, father, foster/adoptive/step -mom, etc.) wouldn't be offended by being acknowledged for their sacrifices and their care and efforts.
