Immodium I always have immodium in bag, but never suffered in all my trips to Temptation, but i was bad for 9 days about 5 years ago when stayed at another cancun hotel.... farmacia suggestion and drs perscription didnt help much...
We just came back and had no issues whatsoever. In the afternoon and evening we would alternate between alcohol and water from the bars to keep from overdoing it.
It is really common in areas outside of the resorts. A lot is that most visitors are not used to what natives are. I.e drinking tap water. I personally had it last year. It started the last couple days there. Total lasted for two weeks after I got home. It sucked, I am not going to lie. I will say that there is a mini mart shop across the street from TTR that sells a product for this. For the life of me, I can't remember what it is called. If you tell them what is going on, their Pharmacist/Employee will know what to give you. Some of the ways to avoid it is to drink bottled water and properly cooked meats. They suggest that you have your meats cooked well. I personally eat Rare/Medium rare, but when I go to Cancun, I choose medium. Also avoid raw fruits and vegetables that are not washed.
I had Montezuma's Revenge in April. Didn't slow me down too much, just wasn't retaining anything I ate (it's an effective but unpleasant way to avoid gaining weight on your holiday ). Start the Immodium right away when Montezuma strikes. Don't dabble in the "denial cure" first, as I can attest to the fact that it doesn't work. Immodium cleared it up within a day. The resort sells Immodium in the gift shop if you forget to bring it with you.
aka "travellers diarrhea" ? Can consist of that, as well as nausea vomitting fever etc. I know people don't like to hear this on this forum but it has happened to my husband twice at TTR. It usually lasts a few days. This year we just found out about an over the counter product called Dukoral. It is a vaccine you have to take it 3 weeks before you leave. two doses one week apart each and the last dose has to be taken a minimum of one week prior to departure. So if you are interested get to the pharmacy right away. Its around $80 but well worth it if it prevents this!
Never had it all the times we've been there but we also stick to bottled water. Never had a problem with the ice in drinks.
