As a Brit, and Dollars being just as unfamiliar to you as Pesos are, I'd recommend you take Pesos. You'll get short changed less that way.
Steve is right! Don't let any merchant give you Peso change for CD. It will be a terrible rate. 13.676 Pesos to the CD today. Just get Pesos from an ATM or ask the desk what their rate is if you have to.
i have always use dollars espically going shopping 21 use american money they will give a better deal then using pescos
We took a mixture of both, worked brilliantly, make sure you get about a hundred pounds worth of 20 pesos for tips.
Our group all did it different on our last trip. At the end of the trip I dont think it made much of a difference. I would just use whichever you are most comfortable with.
From our experience... Tipping really does nothing. Tip what you will, but don't expect any special treatment; unless its a $20 bill. We tipped between $1 to $5 every time we went up to get drinks. We had our big drink cups, so it wasn't that often. There is a mixture of all types of denominations and country currencies in their jars.
