You know karan .. Here is a man that saved up his money for a year to bring back home .. And now he cant even do that .. That makes me mad .. That poor man .. I feel bad for him and his family .. He worked hard for this :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:
On the other hand ... He was an illegal alien for 11 years ... He didn't learn to speak English in 11 years ... He paid NO taxes in 11 years ... And, what about the restaurants that hired him? They should be fined for letting an illegal immigrant work for 11 years, and not pay any taxes. I have to pay taxes, so everybody else should pay their fair share, too.
I gotta go with Janie on this one. If you're going to live (first do it legally) youshould at least know how to speak and read the language. In my book, as cold a it sounds, he has only himself to blame for not knowing the law on this one. It is clearly written on the Customs form. No one is to blame but him that he couldn't read it.
on the other hand i gotta say u dont neccesarily have to learn to speak or read english, my grandmother from italy really never learned english and could sign her name but she stayed home and took care of the family and she didnt drive so not really a big deal plus she had my father uncle aunt and grandfather to help her , plus my mothers father from italy while he learned to speak english he couldnt read or write it just sign his name, he had my grandmother for that and still he built up a very successfull excavating sewer cleaning and paving business (everyone all legal resident aliens too)
Ant, your grandparents were legal, and your grandmother didn't work outside the home, so that's a different story.
Guess I should have waited to read Janie's response before I posted....we have the same point of view on this.
I agree with Karan & Janie.......................... #1 Be legal #2 Speak the language #3 Pay your taxes
