What an amazing bridge collapse. My thoughts and prayers are going out to those in Minneapolis. I hope no one in our community was affected. If so, my prayers are headed your way. Katie
Very sad and tragic. My nephew is in MN this week, playing ice hockey. Luckily, he's about 90 minutes from there.
I have a friend who crosses that bridge everyday...thankfully he and his family are okay. Very tragic.
Yes, I have a grad school friend and my dad's college friend who live in the area. I emailed both of them and they are fine. Thank goodness. Off topic ..... Go Cubs! Katie
I saw that. Very sad. But it could have been so much worse. So many cars fell and ended up upright on the pieces of the bridge that stayed intact. Had the whole bridge crumbled into pieces I think the death toll would have been much higher.
One of my friends from the military (who was in my wedding party) lives in the Twin Cities' area and he called me last night from Ft. McCoy asking me to phone his wife and family. He couldn't get through with his cell phone. We did get through on the second attempt (first one gave us the "All circuits are busy") and passed on a message that he would contact her via the internet with his phone number at McCoy so she could call from their home phone. His wife Kristine told us that this happened not too far from the Seven Corners Neighborhood where we usually party at Bullwinkle's Saloon and Town Hall Brewery when we come to visit them. Murph did phone us later and tell us that everybody in his family was accounted for, which was a relief. Very terrible situation. Certainly in our thoughts and prayers.
I agree fletch, I just hope that the engineers can figure it out eventually and start fixing the rest of the bridges in the country so that we don't loose more lives. Michelle
