Head up! Has anyone else read this article yet? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap_travel/20090731/ap_tr_ge/lt_mexico_beach_closure The article references the Gran Caribe Real Hotel. Is that anywhere near Tempation Cancun beaches?
That's the nature of breakwaters... eddies cause buildup on one side and erosion on the other. I wouldn't call that "stealing" sand. I am guessing the "theft" refers to pumping sand onto the beach, but drawing it not directly offshore, but to one side or the other, in front of a competitor hotel. When I was there in December/January, I saw a pump running on the Temptations beach, but it didn't appear to be depositing any appreciable sand. Looks like Mexican politics at work here. Someone didn't get paid... or got paid. LOL
I think the dispute can best be described as trying to build a hill in your yard but to do so you dig a hole in your neighbour yard to get the dirt. Naturally your neighbour is going to be annoyed.
You won't have to worry about the beach at Temptations. What there is of it. One advantage of being on the North side.
