about to book 4 nights at TTR and two at Golden Parnassus - can we take a suit case and carry on on the bus? Not counting pennies just not looking to throw money away on cab
yes you can take a suitcase. plan on standing I love taking the bus we grab some drinks and go as far as we can 1 way. then back to walmart more booze and go again. any where I go in mexico I got to get on the bus and hang on, And im a pofessonial driver but got nothing on those guys
We grabbed the local bus when we travelled from PDC to Puerto Morelos for a snorkel trip . they were more mini bus than regular full size bus . Very cheap the ones we took were full of locals with all kinds of shopping bags and stuff . No white Knuckle rides for us . They may charge you a luggage fee if you take up a lot of space with luggage .
On our first trip to Cancun. My husband read how you can get from the airport and take the bus for a dollar... sounds great, NOT!. First off when you get off the plane and go through security check you are bombarded by timeshare people .. a mob really. Individuals wanting to redirect you. Luckily we had a lady from Texas (now living outside of Cancun) take pity on us and take us under her wing. When I told her our travel plans..she took a deep breath, smiled and attempted to tell us how the buses work. We were thankful she took us outside and had us stand inline for the bus (coach). I can honestly say we wouldn't of found it on our own or been able to speak to the lady manning the station.. This kind soul did all the talking. We handed over ten dollars each, which we were told would take us to the main depot. The coach brought us to the depot and dropped us off. we wandered into the building in hopes to find information on how to find our next bus. We attempted to speak to a handful of people (including the ones behind the glass) but no one understood what we were asking. We finally found back packing tourist who pointed and stated across the street. We were instructed to just put our hand up. We did and finally found our bus... Luggage and all. The bus was filled and we stood in the middle hanging onto our luggage and hoping to not fly through the windshield as the driver zoomed and switched lanes every 100 feet or so. We watched for the Markers. We were looking for 13 KM. When we thought we were getting closer my husband informed the driver were we were going (Golden). We ended up being dropped off three miles further. So there we were pulling our luggage on the sidewalk.. with horns honking for us to get back on another bus or taxi. Hubby was not about to get back on another bus and he was sure we were close...so no taxi either. We were dropped off at 10 am.. we made it on foot to our hotel at 2:20 pm... Spend the money... I called a shuttle service for our return trip. Round trip private transportation only cost us 55.00 on our next trip.. we were much happier travelers. So had we decided to go back the way we came it would of been 44.00 for two travelers. Spend the extra 11.00 dollars or do the shared shuttle which would be less.
U should also make sure if you have to change a bus, or if its a straight bus to your destination, if its single bus than you are good to go if you have to change a bus then it could be tricky, although, you are traveling in between Hotel Zone, therefore, its safe to say that you will find a lot of people who would understand and speak English including the locals.
I'd say save yourselves the hassle and just get a cab. Or even better, see what USA Transfers will quote. Is your luggage small enough to fit in a cab?
Agreed. USA Transfers make it so easy and are good value. We even use them instead of the inclusive coach transfer provided by our agent. We can be by the sexy pool drinking beer and cocktails whilst the transfer coach is either still waiting at the airport or slowly dropping people off at all the other hotels along the hotel zone. Can't afford to waste a minute of TTR time.
