GONZO: Cancun was football(aka "soccer", hehe) crazy this past Sunday when Club America visited from DF. Saturdays final against "Mission Impossible"(aka Brazil) should be good though!!! I def plan to watch it. Shame in the kick off time, around 830 AM... Thus no bar visit, rather "breakfast footy" at home
There will be a game seven, after all, with the Tigres winning last night, 5-4, over Oaxaca. T.J. was there and perhaps can add some detail, later, but it appears the game was decided on an error by Oaxaca in the bottom of the tenth inning. We can credit the Tigres with keeping it close until they got the lucky break. The game tonight will start at 8 PM.

We were down by 2 most of the game. Clark hit a 2 run double to tie it up 4-4. In the bottom of the 10th, we got a single to left that the LF botched, allowing the runner to reach 2nd. With one out and the runner on 2nd, they intentionally walked the next batter. What looked to be a routine double play ball to 2nd, was botch #2, with the SS's throw to 1st in the dirt and the FB could not make the dig. The runner scored and the whnle team was already running from dugout and almost reached home plate before the runner scored. The game lasted over 4 hours. One Choripan and 4 beers for me and we will win the series tonight. But these guys from Oaxaca are really good, beating us 3 in a row on their field. But two bonehead plays did them in. One bonehead play allowed us to win game 2 at home. Film at 11:00.
Tigres advance! With two outs in the tenth, the seventh game in the series was decided by a bases loaded single to give the Tigres the victory, 3-2, and put them in the finals of the southern division! Go Tigres!
V, Do you know who the Tigres will be playing in the finals of the Southern Division? I like TJ's magic formula of the Choripan and beer, wish I was there to enjoy both the game and TJ's formula.
They face Veracruz, said to be an even stronger team than Oaxaca, which the Tigres barely got by, so they´ll have to be on their toes. The first game against Veracruz will be here, Saturday, at 7 PM. _____________ These games, and the Tigres´ season, generally, add to the list of pleasant things to do here. Even those who are not ardent baseball fans can learn to enjoy the beauty of the stadium, crowd watching, and the eb and flow of the game. In a city not known for having a lot to do it´s surprising to me there aren´t more who follow this action.
How many in the stands on average would you think V. I would love to sit at that ballpark and watch some games!
