Does anyone know where I can find a sponge floor mop that has the lever for squeezing out excess water? So far, all I've been able to find are the cloth and string mops and squeegie (spelling?) mop-like things. I tried two Wal-Marts and Soriana's with no luck.

I'm also looking for a small, pre-owned microwave. Know anyone selling one that works (ha, ha) for a decent price?

And I'm looking for a cross-cut shredder that doesn't cost an arm and a leg like the ones at Office Depot, say, with capacity for a minimum of 10 sheets. Couldn't find any at Wal-Mart.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

I'm pretty sure I've seen the sponge mop like you described at Costco and at Chedraui.

I would strongly recommend against buying a used microwave, as most people don't sell them until they start to go... if you keep an eye out you can get good prices. I bought my great little MagicChef microwave at Chedraui for less then 500 pesos, and you can get them all day long for 800 at the big TeleBodega in SM86.

As for your paper shredder, I would suggest you see what you can find online at mercadolibre.com.mx (Mexico's ebay)

While we are on the subject of appliances - where can I get a toaster?

Ours recently packed up, we bought it in Cancun 4 years ago but can't find them anywhere now.

    Toaster

We bought several toasters at either Walmart (the one near Sam's), or Sorianna's (the one near Home Depot). Good luck!

Wal-Mart, Costco, Sams and Telebodega all carry toasters. Here's a challenge: Find a FOUR slice toaster. It would appear as though people in Cancun who like home made toast (as opposed to pre-packaged toast) prefer to get their freshly made toast two slices at a time. When our kids visit, we could use a twelve slice toaster. We carried back a four slice from the States as hand luggage.

Jannet's tried Walmart, Soriana and Commercial. Walmart had one model a tiny 2 (Bimbo size) slice thing, the other two nada. And yes, it needs to be a 4 slice. Will check out the other store suggestions. Thanks.

Steve - have you tried Sears or Costco? Haven't bought a toaster at either, however, a really good blender and coffee machine! Worth a shot!

I found the mop you are looking for at Home Depot last year. Give them a try.

The toaster I would also try Wal Mart and Costco or Sams. Keep going back since they probably put it out and they disappear quickly.

As for the microwave, I would buy new. Used ones may come as they said at the end of their lives.

    4 slices?

Why not just get 2 regular 2 slice toasters and set them next to each other.. I'd expect the total price would be about the same or less, and its redundant, so if one goes your not completely SOL....
