Has anyone ever seen a product called BOOST around here? I know for sure Costco does NOT have it. It is a nutritional supplement like Ensure and I need to score some. Just got back from a few days in Florida. Off to Soriana and City Club to check but I thought I would see if anyone here knows where it is sold. I am not trying to be rude but please don't start suggesting the obvious places unless you know that it is available. I am prepared to check them if no one knows where I can get it for sure. But feel free to suggest the less than obvious places. Someone did tell me that Farmaia Paris does not have it. Thanks a bunch. I hope to let my fingers do the walking.
Can't help you except to suggest you also check GNC.... its a Nestle product so you would think they have it here someplace...
Thanks Life, I am O for Costco, Soriana, City Club, Mega, Sams and Walmart. I took a peak at the GNC by Soriana but did not see it. Will try in more detail tomorrow and maybe the one at Pz Las Amer too. Some guy in Sams told me about a Farmacia on Palenque near Kabah and although I will wee if I can find it, I suspect it is like asking someone where anything is and the answer is always "todo derecho."
Boost is a Nestle product. Why not go to the horse's mouth and ask if it is sold here or can you order it? Nestle's number in the DF is +52-55-52 62 50 00. Good luck. I really hope you can find it.
TJ- I'm sorry I can't help you with locating Boost in Cancun. Generally there are equivalent products for adult nutrientals from other manufacturers. Can your nutrionist give you the equivalant product from another manufacturer? I have done work with a number of hospitals and extended care facilities and we would quote and compare products to lower costs. It was rare that there wasn't an equivalent product. If your nutritionist can't give you an equivalent send me a PM and I will ask some people I know if they can do the comparison and I will send you the other manufacturers.
Mix and SCM, Mix - Been there, done that, with the help of my friend and neighbor, Scott Wilson. SCM - I am pretty much good to go with Ensure now. I had some throat "work" done and lost a lot of weight, 18 kg. Taste buds were all out of whack and Ensure was not going down the old hatch. Things are getting better although not fast enough, but the Ensure is now palatable, now as a supplement, and not the main source of nourishment. Have 4 kg back and things are looking good. Hey TJ, Glad to hear that you are getting back to normal! If the Ensure doesn't taste so hot, have you thought about throwing it in a blender with some fruit you like? Make a little Ensure smoothie with extra nutrition? Just a thought, I've recently discovered that the blender is good for things besides margaritas and baby food. Been making smoothies with fruit, natural yogurt and Metamucil, touch of vanilla optional, a little Ensure would give an added boost and heck, why not a little ice cream if you're trying to put on some weight? I make smoothies all the time and add powdered nutrition in one form or another. We both like Calcetose blended with milk and bananas. And I buy lots of Emergen-c powder (as TJ knows) and stick it in the blender with fresh fruit and fruit juices. I always feel much better when I make sure to have a nutrient-rich smoothie every day, it solves a lot of what ails me. Costco sells bags of organic frozen fruits which can go straight from freezer to blender. Also TJ have you ever done any vegetable juicing? I highly recommend that. Can't do it with a blender, but if you like doing it then you'll find that a veggie juicer is worth owning. I often find that I prefer drinking veggie juice to actually eating veggies, and veggie juice is raw, so the nutrients haven't been killed by cooking. Good stuff.
RG and CC, Thanks for the wonderful suggestions. I will try the Calcetose but can you point me to the right store and the right area of the store to find it. My taste buds are a little wacky and the moment but seem to be getting better almost daily. I actually stopped by Walmart on the way home for some things and looked at the bananas which were being thrown, literally on the thingy. I swear there was not one single banana that was worth buyng. They were disgusting. I have a nice juicer although it is a bear to clean, just for one person. I cannot do carrots or apples but I can choke it down if I mix those two. Very strange but sweets and salt are not working at all but KFC mashed potatos and gravy rock my world. I would kill to be able to taste Fritos as when I can I am going to eat a big bag at a time. I think I will go to the Parque tomorrow and try a small Licuado de chocolate con platano. Hate to waste $28 on a big one and not be able to taste it. Thank God, every day is now better than yesterday. Thanks again.
