We fly into Cancun on Sunday, November 8, and have reserved our transfer with USA Transfers as many of you have suggested on this site. We have also already requested that we do a quick stop at the Wal-Mart on the way to the resort...once again, another suggestion we picked up from the veterans here. I can't seem to locate the particular thread with suggestions of what to pick up at Wal-Mart, so am asking the crowd here for ideas. I'm thinking of the obvious such as sun tan lotion, large mugs, etc. Any other ideas will be greatly appreciated to make this trip a more "home-away-from-home with a twist" experience will be greatly appreciated.

Also, my better half is wanting to do the massage treatment while there (more than likely more than once, lol). Is it recommended to call the resort ahead of time to book the treatment? I don't want to get there and have to deal with the consequences from my spouse if all massage treatments are booked up for the week we are there, LMAO. I'd have Hell to pay if that ends up happening.

We are looking forward to this trip more than anyone truly knows....

    Is there laundry facilities?

I am trying to find out if there is laundry facilities available. American airlines is charging for each bag, and I may be able to pack less if we can do laundry while we are there. :?: :?:

It sounds like we are going to have a blast while we are down there...Nov 19-Dec 2...Can't wait

If you are looking at the entrance to the resort, there is a little store directly to the right on the street. There is a coin op laundry right behind the store. Save your 5 peso coins you will need them. I have done laundry there several times, works out great. Put laundry in, set timer, go back to pool, drink, go put in dryer, set tmer, go back to pool, drink, go get laundry. Hope this helps, have a blast!!

Can we get back to my question, LOL...

I had began this topic with specific questions but somehow or another it turned into a "laundry" and "airline baggage" topic by response number three, lol. If possible, can we get back to the question I originally started this thread with and ones that are off-topic can be started in a new thread? It's much appreciated! LMAO....

    Thanks!

liquor is cheap there if you prefer a certain brand...also suntan lotion is cheaper than at the resort/hotel zone...Karen always buys her lip balm there because they have spf 50 and she gets coldsores from the sun if she dos'nt protect the lips...

If you plan on doing a booze cruise and/or snorkeling, buy some eco-friendly suntan lotion. They will check you when you board the boat. It doesn't kill the coral like regular lotion. You might want to pick up a cheap straw hat to keep the sun off your face & neck on those days when you are out & can't get in shade as often as you like. They aren't always stylish but they sure are effective. If you have never been to Cancun, you will under estimate the intensity of the sun. Ask any regular, they know.

One other tip about Walmart. We usually make a quick trip @ the end of our trip to develop pictures. Unless you develop your own, a trip to your local film/card developer may result in a little  or pix not developed because of store policy.

We returned from our first trip in August. We followed suggestions about sunscreen and large plastic mugs. We brought our own beach towels and a scented candle or two for the room. Some reports say the rooms are musty, ours was not. We brought travel sizes of our shampoos, soaps tooth paste etc. Try to get pesos before you get to the hotel. You'll need them. There was absolutely no problem getting massage time at the spa. Give Chinos and Brenda a big hello from Mike from NY.

We are going to be there for 7 fun-filled days. You recommend ensuring we have pesos because we are going to need them. What is everyone's else take on that and if we need them, any recommendation on how much to get? I realize that is an open-ended question based on what we choose to do while there, but just asking for recommendations based on those of you that have been there before and needed pesos to do things. Thanks for the responses to these inquiries!
