My wife's Grandad mentioned to me that it is possible (like it is in other countries) to rent cars by the month or year? I know in England for like 4000 pesos a month you could get a brand new car and they replace it with a new one every 12 months or something, the only thing is you don't own it but then with the amount of depreciation in one year on a new car is huge anyway.

Her Grandad didn't know where though and I was wondering if anyone knew of anything like this in Mexico? Other than going to rent-a-car or who else that probably only charge by the day i'm guessing?

I just think i'd rather spend say 40,000 pesos a year having a new car than fork out 6,000 pesos a month paying interest on loan for a new car that's value is falling all the time.

Do you mean like lease a car, where you pay each month, can only do a certain amount of miles a year and then every year or 2 the take it back and give you a new one?

I'm sure you can, actually I'm not sure you can here - asked the guys in the office, but they didn't know what i was on about.

Wondering if you need an FM3 to do this, or if possible to lease on a tourist visa until paperwork gets completed.

Still looking to hear back from someone who has done the Hertz lease.

Is it possible to do on a tourist visa?
