Can anyone please provide input into what stores/shops are close to Temptation, or on hotel row in general? We are looking specifically for snack foods, liquor/cider (in case TTR doesn't have a lot for wife to choose from) and any medications we may need. If there are any stores, how far away are they? Walking distance or short cab ride? May also just be interested in a stroll off the hotel property for a day. Thanks.
There’s a pharmacy across the street and they sold liquor too I believe. We used it last time we went. On the other I’m not sure. We go back in a couple weeks and will definitely need to find out
Pharmacy across the street (and a Starbucks) Overpriced convenient store in front of TTR, many many shops on the strip, bus cost is $1 (although with the recent problems in Cancun I wouldn't use them at night OR to downtown anytime anymore sadly). Cabs are negotiable.
Just down the street, small XO store. Booze, snacks, etc all available. USE PESOS, or they will rip you off on the exchange rate for your USD. And don't listen to the scary talk about it being dangerous. IT ISN'T. Be mindful of where you are and your surroundings, and don't wander anywhere PLASTERED drunk and you'll be fine. MANY trips to Cancun and never a single issue. Ever.
Thanks TF. I figured it was just 'be careful as a foreigner in a poor country' awareness stuff. I've been to Playa a couple of times and the touristy area seemed ok, albeit expensive and being hassled by locals wanting money for everything, but I do recall some guy in a shop trying to coax us down to his 'other' shop just a block off the main strip so I could buy the best **junk** in Mexico, according to him (I was shopping for jewellery, not drugs lol). Dude was total sketch, as was the alley he was trying to get us to go down. No thanks, hombre!
Me and my wife have walked from Temptation for miles both ways never had any issues. Across the street the Pharmacy has just about anything you want. Also the bus picks up right in front of TTR you can ride it to Walmart and back only cost a $1 each way.
Just grab what you need on the way from the airport so you don't have to leave But if you must yeah across the street is good. The Starbucks is a must some mornings though..
