Ok...again not a big thread but since it's free for all, feel I have the freedom to vent my frustrations here. I applied for a new job in the company I work for about a month ago. I'm a 'proposal co-ordinator' which essentially is sorting out all the shit when your company wants to win business and they need a strategy how to do it. I did an interview to be a Bid Editor, which is a huge step up for me (meaning I get to tell other people where their 'shit talk' is going wrong). Today, I get asked into a meeting room where the guy that interviewed me tells me that I interviewed really well, but that they aren't sure where 'the role is going' and I need to wait a few weeks until they make a decision. OK. If I'd lost the job then they would have just told me so, yeah? But he didn't say I'd lost it. He just told me it's gonna be months before I hear either way because they are re-evaluating the role. What should I do? I'm fed up just sitting back and letting my job opportunities slip though my fingers.
Trish, I would think your best bet is to lay low and see how this progresses. You may find that winning that job may your ticket.....that is your ticket out the door. It sounds like they may be evaluating whether or not they actually need that position. I've seen enough corporate moves that are up and then out to have a rather jaundiced view of corporate speak. Traditionally when someone is promoted to a job that someone determines is no longer needed, they do not put the promoted one back in their old job, but instead terminate their services. The feeling is that the "demoted" person will have bad feelings and be a detriment to corporate morale.
Thanks for the wise words - really helped me see where I''m going wrong. I'll sit tight, and if nothing comes of it, I won't be too bothered.
