Anyone know if there is a liquor store nearby GOV? We like to have a bottle of vodka in the room so we can have a few drinks when we are getting ready for the evening. We are flying on Westjet from Vancouver (through Edmonton), which probably goes into Terminal 2, where there is no duty free. Walmart seems like a long way away for just one bottle, so if there's anything closer even if it costs more, we would prefer it. If not, we may consider just bringing a bottle from home, although we would prefer not to.
You can pick some up at the airport liquor store while you wait for your bags to arrive. Just passed customs after you arrive. You walk right by it. Fast and easy. Works every time for us. We tried a Walmart run once. Easy bus ride, however, I did not think the selection or prices was all that great.
No booze at the airport ask you r driver to stop on the way to hotel Quote from Kieth ''All of the Canadian and some American charter airlines come in at terminal 2 which doesn't let you go through duty free on the way in. Most of the mainline carriers from the US land at terminal 3 which does let you, hence the conflicting information. How can you tell I've been through the Cancun airport a few times? lol''
walk across the steet a bit and you will find booze hell its mexico....or go to walmar or costco 10 $ cab ride both ways
As mentioned, flying into Terminal 2 does not give us access to the duty free on arrival. We know that beer is pretty much sold everywhere, but other alcohol isn't as readily available. A few months ago on our way to TTR, our driver stopped so we could pick up a bottle at the OXO, but they only had beer and wine. Anyway, just did a Google Map street view search and it looks like there is a liquor store just across and up the street from GOV.
Hi there YVR1. We are originally from Edmonton and did fly south a bunch of times with Westjet out of YEG. There is a small duty free kiosk and it should be open. The new airport is awwwwwsome....lots of choices of food and of course cold ones! We now travel out of Kelowna and do not have duty free here! Have fun in Cancun...we arrive on the 13th of April and will miss you. Enjoy!
GOV is in a prime location, there is no shortage of stores in walking distance for booze, beer, wine, munchies or whatever.
