My husband is from Cancun, we now live in the US. We are currently dealing with a really horrible situation with our family down there. His 18 year old brother was arrested for a crime that he knows nothing about. He is now in jail and potentially going to prison. We hired a lawyer but it seems like all anybody cares about is money, they are asking for $10,000 right now (dollars, not pesos) and it keeps going up. I know its a stretch but I'm wondering if any of you know someone who could help us. His family is talking about selling everything they own (which is not much) and my husband has already sent our entire savings. If anybody has suggestions or knows someone in Cancun who could help please respond, thank you so much. ~BV

Thank you for your offer to help, I have sent you an email. It is getting worse. He was released last night and then the minute he walked out the prison door he was arrested AGAIN for something else. Each time the family gives money for his release they ask for more. They have already started selling off everything they own and there is no gaurantee he will even be released. We are getting desperate. They paid money for some guy in the prison to protect him, but he is asking for more money all the time. It's unreal. Any help would be appreciated. Even prayers...it can't hurt.

I can't offer any help, but the previous posters are good folk who will help if they can. I wanted to post an update that he was released on December 31st, after spending 10 months in prison. He was found innocent and cleared of all charges, there was not one piece of evidence against him. The family wiped out their life savings on legal fees, protection in prison, and other pay offs to help him stay safe while he was there. The corruption we witnessed first hand was unreal, it was truly a nightmare. I thought those of you who reached out to help me at the time might appreciate the update. Thanks again. ~BV
