There seem to be laundry facilities provided at most hotels, i was just wondering if anyone had any experiance with them and what sort of prices your looking to pay. going out for 2 weeks but dont fancy taking 2 weeks worth of clothes
I don't exactly remember the prices from my internship days at the hotels. What I do remember is that they charge by article of clothing, not by pound/kilo/load. There should be a laundromat in the Hotel Zone, by Correo Español. If you have a small load, you could just take a quick, 10-minute bus trip. If you have a lot to wash, maybe take a taxi there (probably anywhere between $5 and $20 USD to get there, depending on where your hotel is). If you're staying downtown, there are tons of cheap places downtown to wash. If you're in the Riviera Maya, just bring more clothes bc you'll be in the middle of nowhere.
Dude, all you need are tee shirts, shorts and a bathing suit. Wash them in the room when they get nasty. If you want a good laundry, that is convenient, it is called Angelus. On Palenque, a block to the right off Coba. It is like $12 pesos per kg (like 50 cents per pound) for wash, dry and fold and ready the next day. Take the R-2 bus to Walmart. Get off at the Walmart stop and you will see a Starbucks 100 yards farther across the street. Stay on the side of the street you are on though and turn right at the light in front of Starbucks. 100 yards or so on your right. A very nice couple. I used them for years till I bought my own washer and dryer. Hint: Take a couple of those white trash bags with the draw cords for the dirty laundry. The señora will fold it in sort of a rectangle and tightly wrap it in plastic. Round trip on the R-2 is a bit over $1 US. The only other important thing is that you get the bus BACK to the HZ beside Walmart, one street over from where you get OFF the bus.
If you are staying in the Hotel Zone there is a laundry across the street from the El Preidente hotel, approximately KM 8. It's in a small strip mall with an Express food store and some small restaurants. They have both self service and wash and fold. I'm sorry I can't help with pricing of laundry services at the hotels themselves.
