I have a sound issue with my laptop (Fujitsu). It is not the headset, which works perfectly in my other computer. The Windows sound test is fine also, hearing and recording, but I cannot talk on Yahoo Messenger and Skype. I hear the other person but they cannot hear me. So I emailed Fujitsu, they are very helpful, and made me perform some tests, but now it seems it is a hardware issue. They have a repair center in Mexico City and one in Monterrey, but I don't feel really comfortable sending "all my life" so far. Anyone could recommend a place in Cancun? Thanks a lot
If the Windows sound test for listening AND recording is okay, you probably don't have a hardware problem. However, you don't mention if the recording test was made with the mic. Since it usually is, I'll assume that's the case now. Open Skype. Choose Tools. Choose Options. Choose Audio Settings. Make sure that the settings for both microphone and speakers are set to your computer's actual sound card and NOT to "Windows Default Device". Let Skype control audio levels. If your only choice is Windows Default Device, you need to reinstall your sound drivers. I can't speak for Yahoo, as I don't use it. I'm getting on a plane in 2 hours, but I'll check with you later on at my next stop.
Hello, Welcome back home You take a plane in 2 hours and still make time to help me Just the same you!!! I just find your message now since I was fighting with a flat tire  The sounds settings in Skype are set for my sound card (except for ringing, which is not the point), and the test call doesn't give me any recording sound. I have tried a lot of things before bothering friends, including reinstalling the drivers. I must also say that I have the same issue, using my headset or my computer mike. Should I throw the computer away? You know it has been my wish for loooooooong  Well... not this one, it has usually been friendly with me. Unfortunately that wouldn't solve the issue Sigh.... It is not a pleasant future that my friends talk to me... and I write back in reply  Strange way to communicate! Thanks a lot, and have a nice trip
(Sitting in Schiphol Airport, next flight in 4 hours and no, we're not home yet and won't be for a while longer). I'm still confused. If you can record with the mic in Windows sound tests, then there is no problem with the mic or its connection. So please verify. You are able to record from the microphone "outside" of Skype but Skype doesn't pass your voice in a test call. I'll check again later today or tonight.
Ha Schipol  I don't know how, but wherever you come from, there are always 4h waiting... before a 11+ more hours flight. I HATE Martinair! when I arrived I was dead. So now I always take a flight with a stop in the US, more or less in the middle of the trip. Much more convenient. Anyway.... I am confused too. Control Panel -> sounds -> voice -> test hardware, yes it works with mic (probably with the computer mic too). So it SHOULD work  But when I call from Skype or Yahoo (same system, and normally same way from the computer), it doesn't, or rather, it does once in a while. That's why I thought that the connection was rusty or damaged but still it is the SAME CONNECTION as the Windows test  If I had the issue only with one of them, I could try to reinstall (although if I reinstall Yahoo Messenger I lose all my chats, which I cannot consider), but with BOTH!!! I get crazy with this illogical logic
Try 6 hours in Amsterdam. Home in Cancun after 25 hours of travel. And I come home to electriciy on the second floor, no electriciy on the first floor and no hot water. Back to Skype: Do you have "Allow Skype to change firewall settings" checked? It should be if it's not. Let me know. I have to wake up at 7 for the electrician, but after he leaves, I will be catching up on some shut-eye.
That's awful, Mel. When I came back home in October, did I tell you, I didn't have electricity either. Good greetings!!! Luckily, I had MORE than 25 hours trip, the plane was delayed in Paris, so instead of arriving at night, I did in the middle of the afternoon. Better time to go to CFE. Take time to relax, and we talk tomorrow. But I still have to get my tire fixed, my car cannot go on 3 1/2 wheels. You can give me a call when you wake up, with electricity and all running, if only to say hello. Thanks and have a good night. What bothers me though is the problem arised all of a sudden and not quite consistently, I didn't make any change to firewall or whatever. I will check anyway.
