Any clean/safe parks for kids in the downtown area that you can recommend? Thanks in advance!

Parque Urbano is good for kids. It is in front of Costco. There are walking trails, slides and swings and lot´s of animals to see (iquanas, turtles, ducks, coatil and birds).

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of parks in the area. I usually end up taking my kids to McDonalds or Burger King to play around and have an ice cream. Plus, they have airconditioning.

The park pocodinero mentioned is by far your best option, with a pretty big playground, a 2 km trail and some cool animals. (Although I usually hear it referred to as "Parque Kabah") You will probably want to use the Avenida Nichupte entrance since it's a closer walk to the playground.

There's also a decent-sized park in Porto Bello (SM 501, I believe) with a basketball court, a jogging trail and some playground equipment. It's still a little on the small side, but a nice place to play if you're in the area.

It depends on the age of the kids but DIF opened a new park last year, and although im not 100 % sure on the Region (sorry!) i can explain easy enough......Go past Home Depot (with it on your left) and Cheddars on your right...Go all the way to the roundabout with Dominoes and the hospital and go straight through...when you see famacia ahoro on the left hand side turn left down that same road...go all the way through the lights etc until you see the church on your right and farmacia YZA and then turn right into that same road too...Its just on the right (are you still with me!! ) ha ha ......its all secure out in the fresh (hot) air...has a mini zip line for kids under 20 kg, slides swings, basketball/football court, clean toilets, and also a mini water spray area (although that is only open at the weekend) Completely gated with staff and usually a policeman at the entrance, no pets or bikes allowed...open mon thru thurs 2pm - 9pm and fri to sun 12 noon till 8pm. Kids can also pay 20 pesos and paint a picture....its really really nice, never really busy, and even when it is it doesnt seem packed...I go all the time with my little boy :)

    Good job Linda,

Now here are some "guy" directions. Go North on Kabah from the intersection of Lopez Portillo. Make a left at the first traffic light, which is Ruta 4 (Ahorro on the near left corner. At the 2nd light (church on near right corner & Yza far right corner) go right on Calle 107.

As you pass the side of the same church, which is on the right, the park is right there.

This is almost across the street from a woodworking guy, Andres, who has a factory of sorts in his basement. He makes high quality doors, furniture, etc. at incredibly good prices. I saw a cabinet thing at Liverpool, snapped a photo, measured and sketched and he made if for $1,500 less than their $3,750 price. As you enter the Malecon Americas parking lot, there is a furniture store on the right and as I was taking my parking ticket, I saw this way cool coffee table. Glass top and a heavy wood X shaped base. My size requirement was smaller but I did the photo, sketch thing with my measurements and he did this piece too. Dirt cheap. I have his number if anyone needs anything like this. He has made 3 meter tall doors for Isla Dorada type homes and does lots of work for my builder/remodeler friend Brian and that is how I found him.

    Linda,
Sounds like my ex g/f who had not concept of N,S,E or W. Gave directions only by visuals, like the 3rd Superior Beer sign on the right, if she even said left or right. Distances; forget it.
