My DH and I have just booked a holiday at Temptations. While I don't consider myself to be a prude .... I am maybe not as open minded as some of the people that enjoy this resort. Have we made a mistake?

    Yes

You have made a BIG MISTAKE

    by doubting your decisions

TTR has open minded and respectful people for the most part.

If its too much for you there is always the beach or quiet pool.

    you will be OK

Exactly what Donald said. If the Sexy pool is too much go to the Quiet Pool and relax. You can also hang out on the beach not near the Sexy pool and it will be quiet as well. You can pick up the bus at the hotel to go shopping in town and take the bus back again for cheap to get away for a few hours. But there is usually no need for that because you can hang out and relax with your new multi national family of slightly crazy people that you will enjoy hanging out with. Before you leave the resort you will be planning your next trip. If you are really bored you can always go on a time share tour to get back to reality.
Good luck, learn a lot from reading on here because most questions have been answered. Read the trip reports. Post your names, dates and picture on the group that is going the same time as you and make a bunch of friends before you arrive so when you arrive they can buy you a drink. Buy crazy theme wear and bring some outside your comfort zone because most first timers get comfortable quickly.
    Have fun.

    Depends when you booked for....

Okay just kidding, you'll have a fabulous time. I didn't think I was as "open minded" as the people there either but to be honest there are a wide range of people and they are all different. You'll find people who you fit with and will be planning your next trip before you leave.

The only mistake you made was waiting until the year before they shut down for renovations before going. You will be desperately trying to book another vacation as soon as you get home from this one. Read the posts, meet some people and know you made the best possible vacation choice.

We were nervous our first trip.. Lasted about 30 seconds after getting there. It's amazing and probably the only place we will go in Mexico now. When they close for reno's we will anxiously await the re-open. You will open up more than you think... The atmosphere does that to people!

As others have said, the Quiet Pool is just that...quiet...and it's only steps away. On the other hand, you may come home much more open minded than you were when you booked this trip. Not only that, you may very well become a hopeless repeater...like all of us.

To answer your question, No. You made the RIGHT choice.
At TTR you can be yourself AS WELL AS possibly find a part of yourself you never knew you really had. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. It is YOUR vacation and will be what you make of it.
At TTR you will meet some of the most amazing people from all over the world and possibly become life long friends. TTR is the # 1 resort in Mexico for return guests. That alone says something right there.

You will see and meet people from all walks of life, enjoying their vacation, how they see fit. Some will be wild, some will be calm. Not having to deal with kids running around. Bottom line, many feel TTR and the people they meet is like their family and home away from home. To feel free to do what you like without being judged.

If you are reading Trip Advisor and it is causing your concerns, STOP. CancunCare and the people on the forum will give you the TRUE feeling of TTR.

You didn't mention when you are going... This is MY personal opinion: SpringBreak is the one time of year I suggest to avoid for your 1st time there. Normally TTR is age range from 21 - 70+ spring breaktime is usually A LOT of early 20's. Age IS just a number, but the maturity level during spring break is as I personally say is "Frat".

You will have a great time..... Leave all concerns at home. When you get to the hotel, say Hi/ Hello/ Ola/ etc to everyone, when at the bar, order up your drinks as well as an extra for someone next to you. Great way to break the ice. Stay on the forum, ask questions if you can't find your answers.

So welcome to the CancunCare family, and enjoy your vacation at TTR.

    Carol (Mommabear)
