We have been to Cancun 5 times over the last 3 years and aside from Emily do not remember rain being an issue.

We are arrving 6/28 and leaving 7/5.

I just checked weather.com and they are showing 60% chance of isolated thunderstorms everyday.

Plaese tell me what this means. I do not rely on weather predictions as a rule so I am reaching out to locals on this one. Please tell me what the normal rain conditions are for this time of year. Are these isolated storms short lived so you can resume your activities?

I have had rain in NY 18 of 20 days and this weather report is messing with my head

    Please help.

    Thanks!

Online weather reports are notoriously misleading. You'd think by reading them that it rains 300 days a year here, it doesnt.

This time of year it's not uncommon to get some rain, but it is rarely prolonged. When such sites mention 60% chance of showers it's true, but it's most likely a quick shower that lasts for a couple of minutes and is very isolated then that's it for the rest of the day, sometimes you cant even see the cloud the rain is coming from. I've even experienced it raining in our front yard but not in the back.

There's next to no chance of it raining all day for days on end at this time of year. Don't worry about it.

I woke up 2 days ago to dark clouds and we had a boat trip planned. Of course it never rained.

On the other hand you will go into a restaurant or catch a movie and come out and the streets are wet and you never had a clue.

As Steve says, it may rain this time of year but it is over often only a few minutes and it is rarely raining long enough or hard enough to alter your plans.

    Don't worry.

TRAVEL ADVISORY - BRING SUNSCREEN. THE COST IS DEADLY HERE. Unless you are the British family I saw in Walmart a couple of weeks ago, who opened and "sampled" no less than a dozen bottles, lathered up, and walked out. I actually sat down on a chair that was part of a display just to watch and see what they were doing. Unbelievable.

That sunscreen caper must have been priceless.

We are all packed with various levels of sunscreen and have done the tanning booth thing so I think we are ready. Four years ago our 18 year old was with us and on his first day played 4 hours of water vollyball disregarding our warnings. He had huge blisters on his head that were oozzing all week. We are ready, but all that visit Cancun should take your advise.

Thanks for you weather input, we have had non-stop rain since my last post. Three more days.

Oops just when I say it's rare to get any prolonged rain, we get some.

For the second day running it's been cloudy, grey and rainy all day, due to a passing tropical depression. Things should be back to normal within a day or two though.
