I'm going to Temptation for my birthday and was curious if anyone could give me any insight on night life events, what to pack, what to avoid etc. I am a single male will be turning 38 on the 30th. I lost my mother to cancer and my grandma in the last six months and my last vacation was too hawaii but it was in 08. 10 years since I went anywhere. I'm just your average, cowboy boot wearing Midwest guy, well mannered and I don't expect any hookups I just want to be free for a week and get lost in translation. I don't really drink but I plan on it for this trip. Any suggestions hints tips tricks magic crystal ball insight would be awesome. I'm on a non stop flight from Nashville to Cancun. I hear that any other stop ie mexico city is way to much of a hassle. Anyone on here going to be there? I'm very sociable.

You arrive a week after we leave, or we'd be right there at the desk to take you under our wings. I hope this getaway refreshes you. It's a great choice for your birthday!

First tip: don't try to go from 0-60 on the drinking. Give your liver a little training before you go. Go easy on the first day-the First Day Curse is real.

Second: use this site to get to know people who will be there with you before you go. About 3 months before, there will be July and August roll calls in the stickies. There is also a "nakify July" thread where lots of late July people are posting now.

Third:do the theme nights. It helps you find a "tribe" once you're there. As a single guy, you might lean toward humor over blatantly "sexy" in your choices-just our experience, but "funny" guys are maybe less "threatening" and more quickly invited into groups (plus, there's nothing sexier than a great sense of humor! )

Fourth: when you get there, don't wait for others to approach you. Grab a bunch of shots, take it over to a group, and tell them you're a first-timer...that'll be the beginning of the best time of your life!

Also: arrange USA Transfers from the airport before your trip. Once you get your luggage, walk all the way outside, ignoring all of the people inside the airport oggering you rides and tours-they're time share salespeople who will say ANYTHING to redirect you to sales presentations.

If you are not a big drinker AVOID the tequila shots! Just remember "one tequila, two tequila, three tequila, FLOOR" ;) Great place to go to have fun and forget about real life for a week. :marshe:

Thanks for the replies. I call tequila tokillya. I hear the tequila is more smooth there. I'm getting mixed reviews about the all inclusive. Can anyone tell me if I need to be premier or vip package to get the better alcohol? I'm thinking about going to see the ruins is that something I will be able to do while at the resort? I also want to run into town and pick up some souvenirs. Is that near by?

Summerbun, thank you for your insight. I'm not a big drinker. Heck I'm not even sure what I would like. Maybe they will have bfds/Singapore sling. I'm honestly going to meet people living it up, just having fun. I figure going to an adult only place will weed out any kids and college people who are more obnoxious than fun. I'm hearing
A lot about a booze cruise is that something to do our can I skip that? I'd prefer to be at a place I can lay down if I drink to much instead of on a boat. I also want to have fun so I'm willing to trade off some pros/cons. Thanks in advance to all.
