Any michigan based folk experienced this? I am due to go to either the start of summer or end of summer one and it sounds like a blast...
"JobbieNooner is a yearly party that is held on Lake St. Clair every summer. It was originated by a small group of automotive designers ("Jobbies") They decided to blow out of work at lunchtime one Friday (i.e. "Pull a Nooner"), get together on their boats and have a good time. It started 27 years ago with four boats and seventeen friends. It has grown into the biggest party of the summer with an estimated 2,000+ boats and nearly 8,000 people attending. It has been nicknamed the "Mardi Gras of the Midwest." I was there last year in June. You will need to find someone with a boat otherwise you won't be able to get to the island. Kinda like SB without the palm trees. The June event is better than in September. I believe this year it'll be held on June 22nd. Here are some aerial pics http://www.aerialpics.com/J/jobbienooner03.html Do a google search on JobbieNooner and you'll find out more
Lake St Clair seems to be just northeast of Detroit on the map. http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.ad...s&state=MI&zipcode=48081&country=US&geodiff=1
Yea i checked the website out the other day but wondered if anyone had personally been.... Yea Jason/Dennis it does look great fun! Zack....tell more?
The Coast Guard and local party poopers have tried (but failed) to get it cancelled because of the wild debauchery and huge quantities of garbage left behind. It really is the Mardi Gras of the Midwest (the straight one, not the gay Euro version)

Just think of it as Spring Break on a boat with lots of beads, naked girls, and an island full of garbage and poo  Hint: Tie up wih other boaters & stay on your boat
WOW....this looks like a great time. I think I need to visit my sis in MI and make a side trip, she did just buy a boat
