A couple of days ago I was doing some guy things and saw a big JIMMY DEAN 18 wheeler sort of near Cumbres on the way to the airport. One of the guys in the group said he had bought Jimmy Dean Sausage at (the tourist) Walmart. The others of us had never seen it anywhere. I went to that Walmart today and everyone I asked looked at me like I had two heads. I looked at every single place where anything cold or frozen was displayed and am pretty sure I would have found it, were it there. Surely that big old truck was here for some reason. Does anyone know where this can be bought locally? I am talking about the rolls that come in like Mild, Hot, Smoked or whatever that you cut open at one end and squeeze out what you want, or if frozen, you just slice off what you need. I and several of my buds would love to score this stuff. Sausage gravy and biscuits. What could be better? Thanks,
I bought some lil' smokies bite-size sausages at the Chedraui on Tulum... in the deli section.. that I *think* were Jimmy Dean don't know about rolls and the other stuff.. and I'm pretty sure I bought a box of "breakfast sausages" that were Jimmy Dean, at Costco a while back from the frozen section but they were nothing special... I also sent you a PM regarding a friend of ours that might be able to help.
I did not see any Jimmy Dean Sausage or the truck but the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile was at The Mega (on Kabah, next to Costco) the other week. It was kind of strange to see it here.
when I was living in cancun full time , I was craving biscuits and gravy, as that is the staple of a "healthy" Texas breakfast , but no one knew what I was talking about!!!!! I was told to go to Bisquets de Obregon , still couldn't find a decent biscuit. TJ - you want me to bring an ice chest down next week with some JD, will TSA frown on that? lol!!
Steve - I'm not quite sure what those are!!!!!!!!!! ha ha ha - but they ain't biscuits!!!! these are biscuits and dont forget hashbrowns scattered w- onions- if Cancun had a waffle house or a whataburger - I'd move back!!!!
I think Top Gear got their countries mixed up somewhere! Scones are for clotted cream and jam, and gravy is brown
"Scones are for clotted cream and jam, and gravy is brown" Must be the accent, but that sounds really funny when I say it!
Charles - Now that's what I'm talking about. This stuff makes you grow up big and strong in Florida too. Poco - Last night my friend Bundy told me that they had Pillsbury canned biscuits at Mega, BUT they are in the frozen section and probably ruined. But a proper Pilllsbury Buttermilk Biscuit is a key ingredient in "Sausage Gravy and Biscuits." If Jimmy Dean Sausage is here, we will find it. That truck just did not get lost while driving between Dallas and El Paso.
Jimmy Dean Sausage is available at the "tourist Walmart." If you go into the beginning of the meat section it is in the middle cooler, not the wall cooler where the Italian Sausage is. They have links and patties. Yes, the flakey biscuits can be found in the freezer section at MEGA just past the ice cream on the right. I found the buttermilk ones there once or twice too but as I prefer Flakey, I never sampled them. I can say that most of the time the flakey ones are difficult to pull apart, I think from thawing and then refreezing, but are great once baked.
