I dont think there are any companies offering Jeep tours at the moment in Cancun. Joe's Jeep Adventures which used to do this closed down several months ago.

As an alternative you might want to consider the ATV Tour:
    Cancun ATV and Cenote Tour.

Wow, what ever happened to Joe's Jeep Tours? I did that one a few years back and had a blast. Was thinking about doing it again when I go back in a couple of weeks. Sorry to hear they closed.

Why don't you just rent a 4x4 for a day and hit the gravel?

Alpha, there are a couple of reasons why that wouldn't work. First, the jeeps you can rent in the area don't have the right tires to use the paths in the jungle. At times, the folks Tankah end up with large groups and end up having to rent some local jeeps. These jeeps often get stuck on the trails, and they end up having to use the winches on their jeeps to pull them out. Rental jeeps usually dont have the winches, etc.

The other reason you couldn't just rent and hit the gravel, is that it can be hard to tell which is public land, and which is private.

Excellent point Manny, I didn't know that and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Thank you for this information.
I've also heard that rental cars often have their 4WD disabled, but don't know if it's actually true.
