Coming to TTR for first time in Sept. Wanted to know if Jacuzzi rooms are worth it? If so, what is best way to upgrade, before you get there or after? Also, what is the usual upgrade cost? We have already booked our room.
If the resort is full it could cost you 150@ night at the desk, or 75 if theyer not. The weather plays a big factor on weather or not you will enjoy the room. they can be far away from the main fun areas, but that make them quieter.
In May, friends of ours pre-booked a Jacuzzi room and loved it, so they will always book one. This works great for us, since we can just hang out there for late night or before dinner drinks...and possibly a place to spend a rainy afternoon. Jamie and I only spend time in our room while we sleep, shower and get ready or are watching channel 12...so we'll probably never upgrade.
We just returned 10 days ago and stayed in a Jacuzzi room (1112). We booked it with the hopes of upgrading to a suite, as we did last year, but that didn't happen. The room itself was good and the location was quiet. If you do get one, know that it is a dark room. The only light we had was in the hall and bathroom. The only lighting in the bedroom was the red "sexy" light, which is fine for sexy time but sucks when it comes time to getting dressed for dinner. Also, the Jacuzzi for room 1112 didn't work, which really sucked because I pulled a muscle in my back the week before we went to TTR. Was it worth it? For the quiet, we say yes.
We upgraded at check-in for $50/night, staying in room 112_ which is at the end of the hallway to the left of the entrance to the Nice Shoes bar. We concur with GandC, that location was worth it for the quiet it offered us plus the walk from the sexy pool or Paty-O's was only 3 minutes. OK, the walk to was 3, the walk from varied for predictable reasons. I was either so excited or buzzed, likely a combination of the two, when we hit the check-in desk that while negotiating a price for a jacuzzi room and hearing the guy say "OK, Three Fifty for the week" my addled brain interpreted it as being 350 pesos. Ms SkiBum gave me a well-deserved eye roll, quietly suggested to me that it just might be $350US, then took over the reigns. The check-in clerk was smooth enough to not respond to the lunatic standing before him.
When you arrive see if you can upgrade. Let's just say, you won't be able to take the kinds of pictures I took, well.... Woody took them, this past trip if you don't have "access" to a Jacuzzi.
