We just got back on Sunday and had a great time overall, but we really had an issue with the new "Miss Temptation" contest the first week of August. Early in the morning Andrea and a few of our friends approached the staff and asked about entering the Miss Temptation contest. They were told it was already full. Our first reaction was wow, that was early, but ok. Then as it got closer to time, they put up 4 chairs for the contest. As time grew near, they took one chair away. Then they started calling for the contestants, and only 2 of them showed up. We again asked the staff about getting one of them in the contest, and thats when we were told that the contestants were picked over a week ago, before they checked in. They had sent in head shots, and the staff (not sure which staff) got to pick who would be in the contest. What was really rediculous is that they ended up with only 2 contestants, and wouldn't let any "ordinary" people join the contest. The girl that won was really cute, but we were outraged that they won't let guests enter unless they have been screened? WTF.. thats just wrong. We had a good size group that got out of the pool as it was time for the taking of the shorts as our way of protesting. Since the gal that one was very cute ( in full makeup and high heels at the pool, give me a break) a good group of guys didn't seem to care that there were only 2 contestants.
We had 3 ladies that would have really had fun with it and given it their all (if you know what I mean). For them it wasn't even about winning, it was just about getting up there and competing, having fun, etc... and now they are taking that away. If they want to have a beauty pageant once a week, fine.. do it at night when everyones supposed to be dressed up etc... but the pool side games shouldn't be about who is the prettiest.. they are more about who is willing to work the crowd. Hell, I won Mr. Temptation last week.. but only because the other 2 better looking guys were kind of boring and wouldn't ham it up with the crowd. If they pre-selected contestants for that based on looks alone.. I wouldn't have gotten near the stage.

I'm not sure if they are begining to worry about the "quality" of the ladies representing Temptations since from what I hear it was not like this a month or two ago.
Are there any recent contestants that can say if they had to pre-register for the contest?

To me, this is in keeping with the very false marketing of the resort - they are trying to make it a "hedo-lite"/"desires-lite" sort of marketing play, where "beautiful people come to cut loose and play" versus the resort that we all fell in love with when it was the BBG that was "come be yourself and cut loose. No one knows you and no one gives a shit".

Because they use the Miss BBG results now on the web site and promote it via email marketing, right or wrong (ok, WRONG) they are now worried over the "visual asset value" of the woman that they will be sending around in their marketing to create viral buzz about the resort, therefore, yup, they are prescreening, because they want to control the result of the contest.

Just another reason in my "book of why" I'm thinking for our next trip to Mexico, we'll be back to the tame, more expensive, but at least predictably enjoyable resorts in Riviera Maya.

not that it was ok... but was this the week that Playboy was there?

I hope some people kicked up a stick to management about this.

It was the week directly following the Playboy weekend (which was a joke). I don't think that had anything to do with it, but not sure.

Just wondering. How did the women that did send in headshots know to send them in? It's not on the website and an e-mail hasn't gone out, has one? Very odd.

There is a Miss Temptations contest every week (selected by Chinos subjectively deciding who got the loudest poolside shoutout), these are pooled to come up with a Monthly winner (selected via website votes, how is this tracked/manipulated?), and the monthly winners get a free trip back in January to come up with the winner for the year (who knows how they decide that but I wouldn't be surprised if it was figured before the contestants arrive).

I saw the competition your wife was excluded from... Hell, they didn't even count points for the pile of men's swim trunks.

Didn't know about having to apply in advance... most bogus. The mgmt at TTR need to lighten up. I've booked at TTR because it was a cheaper adult resort, but am beginning to wonder if it's worth the savings over Hedo, etc.

We were there for the contest on Aug 19thish and they almost had to cancle it becuase no one wanted to participate. It started 5 minutes late till they found 3 people to participate. I bet the week you were there they just had enough people ask them about being in it that they filled up well in advance.
