Hello to all of our TTR friends! We're heading down for our second visit (Oct 30- Nov 3). It's a short trip this time but we're looking forward to the Boobs Cruise again on Nov 2, and ALL of the theme nights!!!!! For those that missed our first Boobs Cruise, it was ummmm....... awesome, lol. I've even heard it called "epic" :ladiesman1: Here's where I need a little advice though. I was thinking about booking a small boat to take us to Isla Mujeres for a few hours of wandering around, maybe grab a bite. The visit during the Boobs Cruise is cool, but by the time we get to the island we're not exactly our normal selves, lol :ernaehrung005: :69: :daveandmo: So, any ideas for a relatively inexpensive boat and maybe tour guide?
I've only been to the island on the Boobs Cruise...but there is an inexpensive ferry that many people take over. The island is small enough that you can easily rent a golf cart and bar hop your way around the island. I've done that with the Boobs Cruise group one year and had a blast! The one thing to remember is to not miss the ferry on the way back. If others have done a real tour with a guide...I'm sure they will chime in.
I didn't even think about the golf cart idea! Thanks! I should have mentioned before but we wanted to stay away from the ferries or anything that transports more than 6-ish people. We deal with enough in our home lives and don't want to feel like livestock on a tour :icon_lol: Something fun, quaint, and ok for us to have a drink or 2, etc.
Take the ferry. Its not bad at all.. Its about a 20 minute ride, its a people mover, not a tour.. And its $16 round trip. I actually reserved my cart through isla mujeres golf cart rentals ahead of time. It was nice to not have to worry about bringing the cash. A day of golf carts on the island has become our vacation tradition. We rent carts with friends, drive around drinking all day (The cops don't care. I was passed by a few with a beer in my hand), stop for lunch at this great beach club called Zama, hit a few tequila bars, and just have a great day.
As others have mentioned, no need to rent your own boat and tour guide. Just take the ferry and then rent a golf cart. The island is only small and its almost impossible to get lost. The closest ferry is just a ten min walk from Temptation at 'Embarcadero'. It's not the most frequent nor fastest but its closest. There are 3 or 4 different ferry terminals though so make sure you get the right ferry back or you may end up somewhere unfamiliar.
I agree with dikfore. It's not a tour, just a mode of transportation. Just walk out the resort, turn left and walk to the ferry. Also look for a little bar called "the Joint" pretty unique.
And like Steve said... Its hard to get lost. If you look at the water and see nothing but water, you are on the east side... If you see land off in the distance, you are on the west side.. We actually got lost a few weeks ago, cutting across the island... I just said hell, keep driving and I'll figure it out eventually... 2 minutes later we were on the other side of the island back on the main street and knew exactly where we were.
Take the ferry early tour around it's an awesome place. Rent a golf car for sure. We've done it many times and it never gets dull. Just make sure you take your drivers license. Also, Jax Bar and Grill is an awesome and safe place to eat. Owned by an American couple so cleanliness and standards are high. It's to the left after you get off the ferry on the Main Street
