Is Isla Mujeres near enough to Cancun that there are day trips? Has anybody gone? Worth it? Or better to stay around the sexy pool for the whole trip?
There is many ferry options to get there. all though we haven't tried it yet I hear the best option is Steves Boobs Cruise
Definitely worth a trip if you're staying at the resort more than 5 or so days. Go on a Boobs Cruise if you get the chance. If you want more time on the island, you can get the bus (R2 I think) to Puerto Juarez ferry port, and ferry over to the island is ridiculously cheap (couple of dollars I think!). There's plenty to explore in the immediate surrounding area where the ferry drops off (bars, beach, a few snorkelling points) or you can hire a golf cart and travel around the whole island. We did the Boobs Cruise and went back ourselves via ferry a few days later.
You can actually see Isla Mujeres across the bay from the resort, so it's very close. We haven't been there yet because our first 2 trips were short, plan on going this year either with the Boobs Cruise or on our own.
We did the Boobs Cruise and then once on the Island a few of us rented golf carts, went to 7 11 and got a cooler beers and snacks and drove around the island! Had blast then got the ferry back! Ferry drops u off within walking distance up the beach to TTR! If you are going for more than a week I would do the Boobs Cruise and then a seperate day do the ferry and golf carts. If less you could do what we did! Either way you will have a blast!
We love it so much this year we're spending 4 days of our trip there. We have gone for a day trip every trip and always hated leaving so this year we won't have to. Its small somthing like 5 miles long and 2 miles across but still so much to check out.

We were at TTR in February and did a day trip to the Island. First, the ferry that use to cost just a few dollars appears NOT to exist anymore. We paid $15 roundtrip. The golf cart we rented was $40 all-day. We had a blast! We hit different bars and places along the beach. Visited the turtle acquairium (sp?) that was pretty cool. Definately worth a day trip.
We're hoping that's the day of the Boobs Cruise, but we may rent them once we get to the island and take the ferry back!
