Anyone done a day trip to Isla Mujeras, rented a golf cart, bar hopping, beach. Would love some info, we are there next week and would love to do a day trip there.
We went over during the first week of May. We decided to rent a scooter instead of the golf cart, a little quicker and more fun for us. We were able to get all around the island in a couple of hours. We stopped at a couple of places for a drink and then at the very end of the island to look at all the sculptures. It was an easy thing to do, let us know if you have specific questions.
I plan on doing the same thing .... I go on Saturday May 21st. I think that I heard that to rent the golf carts was about $50-$60 (USD) a day .... how much were the scooters? and did the two of you rent one scooter, or did you rent 2 scootters? thanks for the info.
I would be interested in info also. What's the best way to get there ? Would you say it's worth making the trip over ? Thanks ! AJ
I would also like some more info, can two ride on the scooter? Might be doing some drinking so the golf cart might be cheaper, but the scooter would be more fun. What is the price difference. Any suggestions on where to go and what to do Isla. Any good beach to swim and snorkle?
The scooter was $28 for the day. We rented from some guy without teeth :icon_biggrin: We had one scooter with the Mrs. on the back. We thought the golf carts were $40 for the day. They will try and get you to book on the way over, but wait until you get off the ferry and you will have lots of options. If you plan on drinking and driving, we say go with the golf cart, plus you can get four on the cart. We enjoyed our time and were glad we went over. Not sure we would do every year, but we would do it again, and we would rent a scooter again.
To get to Isla Mujeres on your own, you need to take a bus to Puerto Juarez and then you catch the ferry there. Last time I did that ( 3 years ago) the price for the ferry one way was around 5 dollars. The ferries run proximately every 20 minutes.
The Island of the Women is a complete tourist trap. You must visit there at least once, however, as there is plenty to see and buy. We won't be back there any time soon.
Wife and I will be there May 21 and 28 and would also like to go for a day trip on the island. Let's see if we can meet up and see if we can maybe get others to join us
me and hubby will be in cancun the very same time as you! Although we are staying at the Golden Parnassus and not Temptations. We planned on doing a day trip to Isla Mujeras around Tuesday 5/24 for the day. We are going to take the express ultramar to get there quick, and spend the day on the island and rent a golf cart. We plan on exploring the island, and stopping along the way to try all of the local food/drinks!
