Where can I catch the ferry to Isla, is it close to Temptations, and what is the cost. Also, what would you suggest we carry for a day trip... swim suits, mask, fins, etc. Is there a place to change clothes?

I only take the ferry from Puerto Juarez. it's downtown but WAYYY cheaper. tortugas and the other one next to temptations are much more $. Ultramar.com

they give u fins and a snorkel but u can bring ur own if u want. For my day trip to Isla i brought in my beach bag: football, underwater camera, towel, suntan lotion, extra pair of flip fops(mine tend to break) and the most important stuff Eyeliner and lip gloss! lol.

I already wear my suit under my clothes the whole time im there :D

    Shark....very close

We just got back from Temptations, we were in the farthest north wing of the hotel, and when you come out of that wing of the hotel, there is a beach volleyball court on the beach and the marina to the left. About 30 feet from the volleyball court is a building and a fenced parking lot where the ferry to Isla docks. The Temptation sidewalk goes right to the parking lot and a security guard is posted there making sure only Temptation guests walk in.

We went with another couple three days ago and took the ferry which is within walking distance once you get out of the resort and go left. Paid $15 for the water taxi per head and once on the island paid $37 for 3 hours of the four seater golf cart. We didn't do too much but just enjoyed driving around the island and shopped a little bit but next time, I would love to do the Zip line which is around $50 including lunch and drinks.

As most of us know No question is a dumb question...
I don't think there are any secluded beaches on the island, I don't even think I've seen anyone without a top... but I could be wrong

Go out to the main road and start walking east, towards the party zone for a couple blocks. On your left, there is a marina that probably has a couple of pirate ships moored in it. in there you can get on the water taxi over to Isla. I don't remember how much, but about $7 a person I think. the boats are small and kinda crappy but perfectly safe. If you get sea-sick easy, then you are better off going over to Puerto Jaurez and jumping on the big Ultra-Mar ferry.

When you get over there, grab a golf cart and just start driving around looking at stuff. If you are planning ahead, you could have gone to Walmart before hand and grabbed a $6 cooler. Stuff that baby full of beers and ice on the island. Lots of little conveniences stores all over the place to get that. And go drinking and driving. Great fun.

There are lots of little restaurants all over that you can stop in to grab a bite and more beer. This is a lot more fun if you have 8-12 people all in the golf carts booting all over the place. Oh, and the locals seem to like it if the girls flash for them :flash:

Then you can go over to playa norte. its a topless beach and there are lots of little bars along it. The beach itself is absolutely beautiful along the west side. it's sheltered and calm and goes out a long way.

The last taxi leaves from ilsa around 5ish. if you miss it, you have to jump the ferry back to Puerto Jaurez and take a cab back to the resort. Not a big deal, just costs a little bit more.

Oh, and there is a bunch of shopping in Ilsa too if that's your sort of thing.

there's a house along the north side shaped like a sea conch. You should try to find that. It's kinda cool.

Then when you get back to the resort, you can start drinking!

    I love Mexico!
