Watching How does this year seem to stack up so far Steve: I'm already getting tired of watching these things! They seem to be following pretty closely on each others' heels
Pretty much the same as usual. Lots of systems develop and fizzle, some do turn in to hurricanes but dont effect us, a very few turn into hurricanes that do effect us and of those a very few are actually strong enough to cause significant damage. A major hurricane event effecting us directly is probably in the region of 1 in every 20 or so years - nothing to worry about too much but when a big one does come, well: [ame=""]YouTube - Coco Bongo & Wilma...
With a handful of exceptions, most notably Wilma, storms/hurricanes heading toward Cancun always seem to turn north at the last minute. Not saying we don't get lots of wind and rain as they pass by offshore, as we do, but they nearly always seem to miss the Cancun area. And a couple have turned inward to nail Tulum and Majahual while Cancun got a bit or wind and rain and the flooding that goes with it. Kind of a good news, bad news, thing I guess.
