Internet Speeds and Reliability

    Hello

    I see a thread on this a couple of years ago but a lot can change in that time. Anyone have current advice/recommendations for reliable and good internet service here in Cancun. I am moving but yet to decide on actual location, perhaps Cancun Towers, perhaps central hotel zone.

    Is Cablemas the preferred service? I use internet constantly and daily for business and VOIP often.

    I'd say Prodigy from Telmex is probably preferred over Cablemas.

    Customer service can be hit or miss, downtime is rare. My connection is 1000 pesos a month and includes landline calls with low prices on International calls, free local calls and 100 minutes free to cellphones. The only real gripe is that it is supposed to be 20Mb but I never get anywhere near that, still it's fine for VOIP.

    Hey Steve, I recently had a few conversations with their 'help' desk and they about said i was lying when i said someone i knew had 20mb! They told me i have a 10mb connection but the fastest i can get is 6mb! I am thinking of moving to the 5mb package then only losing 1mb and saving 400 pesos a month but i bet i'll probably get 3mb if i do that!

    Your upload speed is large though, considering we pay the same amount, mine is never over 0.6, yours is 3.7mb!

    Yeah, we thought about downgrading to the 10Mb since we actually only get 5Mb. But you're right they said we'd end up with half our current speed, so 2.5Mb. :(

    Are you doing the test directly connected to the internet of through wifi for these test?

    That is also $75.00 a month, I'd settle for slower compared to what internet cost in Cancun

    Internet speed Cancun

    Not to brag, but this is what I get with CableMas if any one is interested let me know and I may be able to point you towardsthese kind of speeds depending on your location.
