I saw on the resort site that it is $5 for a half hour to use the resort computer. Or your own laptop is $15 for 24 hours. We will have our blackberrys with us. To check emails too. Sometimes my husband needs to check things on the computer too. Just wondering if the internet at the resort is really slow? Or if using the resort computers suck? Any opinions on this? Thank you

if you don't need it too much, use the resort's PC. It not ultra fast but it's not ridiculously slow either. I brought my laptop last year and i didn't get reception in the room so I had to use it in the lobby...guess what, might as well use their PC at that point. Better than having to lock it up in my luggage every time I left the room. I actually stopped paying the $15 daily and just paid the $5 when I needed to.

Look at it this way every minute on the computer is a minute you could be at the sexy pool, at patyos or watching channel 12 (hopefully with someone):wink3:

almost forgot - my computer slowed down during the trip (i thought it was the bad internet connection) and never regained it's speed. I needed to buy a new one. I'm convinced that it was because of all the in and out of the room going from the cold A/C to the humid weather. You will see what happens to the lense of cameras, you can't take pictures for at least 15 minutes after coming out of your room because the humidity fogs it up so bad.

The computers at the resort are a little on the outdated side (Like from the 80's maybe) but they work.

I never thought of it before but if you have a phone (Iphone/Blackberry) with wifi there may be free hotspots off grounds available, like maybe in the bar zone? That would give you the opportunity of checking emails, fb or a quick note here on CCC while you are out and about :)

Does anyone (Steve?) know if they are available?

I took my laptop last year and it worked OK. Speed was good not great. We stayed as a guest of a member, so it was free in the room.

If you are a RCI or Premier member, there is a laptop in the Premier office you can use free of charge. :xyxthumbs:

We always take the laptop (we are members so it is free) and have never had any issues...decent speed and a good connection. Never used it for work but rather to keep in touch just in case something goes wrong at home...and FB of course (live updates on the insanity of the vaca, lol.).

Never did take it put of the room; so no moisture problems. But travel with a laptop is a pain these days...and has been for a while, lol. Nice to have the ability to be in touch if need be though.
