I am about to go to the US driving (let's say I will make it) in order to live there (nobody knows yet for how long), I am trying to insure my car with Mexican plates entering the US. I am contacting Mexican companies, but it seems they cover only inside Mexico. AXA did it.. until the end of 2009.

I would like to avoid the abusive rates at the border.

Anyone has an idea? That would be really great. Thanks.

Have you contacted the top US insurance companies? I always use State Farm because they've always been fabulous when I make a claim. AllState, Progressive and Geico are other big ones. I'm sure most of them will have decent online systems for quotes and stuff.
