Does anyone have any info about what happened to the Canadian guy at Moon Palace? He has been diagnosed as clinically brain dead. The official story is 'he fell'. His family insist he was attacked. I stayed next door to the moon palace a couple weeks ago, and I find it very difficult to believe that security beat him into unconsciousness. However- something happened. Anybody hear more than Canadian news is saying? http://www.edmontonsun.com/News/Edmonton/2007/05/09/4167528.html
Too early indeed have to be on the 7.20 bus for work, but one more get up before my holibobs now  Yeah it is tragic, something doesn't quite add up with it all :!:
Cosmic your of too Florida aren't you mate??? Have a gud'un kiddo but I'm sure you'll make sure of that tho hey
From the other thread: Having lived in Walsall myself for 8 years you have nothing to be worried about me cocker, a night out in cancun will be far safer than a night out in Bloxwich or Willenhall, and the girls are fitter too  BTW Yam Yam, I have just booked for flight home Monday - we'll be going back to Brum on the flight you come in on. The Tuesday Dady Rock meet up is still going ahead, but I wont be there - need to get back for the play offs . I'll be fixing up final arrangements with Daz in the next few days, if you lads can make it. It's a bit of a trek from the MP but will be a good night out. Back on topic, as for the incident referred to, the Canadian press have been making a mega deal of any incident involving Canadian citizens in Mexico, I think there have been two or three serious incidents in the last two years. Sad though it is, it's a very rare event that can happen in any city in the World. Even in places like Toronto or Walsall
It has been made a huge deal in the Canadian press. I've been to Cancun the last 6 years, and I'm incredibly envious of all of you who have taken the plunge to make the move. I met some folks from Toronto in Xcaret last year who felt the Ianero incident at the Barcelo had nothing to do with the locals, however it's seen differently through the eyes of the Canadian press W5 (that's Canada's version of 60 minutes) http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNe...five_murderinmexico_070414/20070414?hub=WFive It does seem strange the the AG of QR blames a couple of single mothers from Thunder Bay. I was just really interested in wether or not any of you who had more access to local info had heard more than I might have. As for incidents like this happening in Toronto, Steve - unfortunately they happen about once a week- maybe not in a hotel - but I would far rather wander around Cancun drunk and vulnerable around 3 am than I would TO. Enjoy your vacation in the UK, and YamYam- the moon palace looks incredible- I stayed in the far more humble digs next door. But I'll take it! I've been spending every non working minute plotting how to get back there for Christmas!
I was leaving the Barcelo the morning that couple was killed. I will admit that it was very strange that the hotel staff was strictly business as usual even though there were 2 VERY bloody dead bodies in one of the rooms waiting to be picked up by the medical examiner. NOBODY was questioned about what they might have witnessed.
