I would have to disagree slightly that the histories were ever "lost." I think a better term would be "ignored" as the true history of the world has always been in print form, (our brothers & sisters across the pond learn it at an early age) however, this country has always chosen to present itself in the most positive light as it can, regardless of historical accuracy.
