I may have discovered reason for large groups of Brit lads booking

I 'may' have discovered why there's been a few problems with large group bookings. This is an extract from the T's and C's of my booking I've just made with a well known UK travel agent:

    "Group Bookings
Travelling in a large group need not be as expensive as you think, so to help make it more affordable we offer free places on 7 & 14 night holidays for groups with as few as 10 people.
    "

Departure dates and 'free' places were as follows:
01-23 May = 1 free place every 10 travellers in a group booking (i.e. you book 30 people, 3 will go free of charge)
24-29 May = 1 free place every 15 travellers in a group booking
    30 May - 04 June = 1 free place every 20 travellers in a group booking

This list went on, with needing more people to get a free place in 'high' season, and then dropping back down again to just 10 travellers during hurricane season.

Interestingly, when I went to book, a warning appeared with the following message about the resort too:

"this property will be operated by escapades. escapades are suitable for young and lively customers, therefore the property is not suitable for families or couples looking for a relaxing holiday. minimum age of travel is 17 with parental consent. recommended maximum age of travel is 35. escapades do not accept bookings with children. please note: property is exclusively for adults, children are not allowed. due to the adult orientated nature of the entertainment at this property, it is only acceptable to adults over the age of 21. anyone under this age will not be allowed to stay. families and couples will not find this hotel suitable."

In the same sentence they've said minimum age is both 17 and 21, so you can see why some are confused! Also their recommended maximum age is 35!! Yeah, right!

How interesting! I think that you should put this on Tripadvisor. This means that I am now too old to go to TTR! :( , This does explain a lot, perhaps the hotel should be sent this too. If you put it on TTR's Facebook page, I am sure that they will delete it!

Wow, that is very interesting. It sounds like they will be sending everyone to TTR by the wording. It makes no sense to say you must be 17 and then later on say the minimum age is 21. If it is for TTR then they need to change this to "must be 21". Max age of 35 is just a joke! I think TTR would have to close if they made the max age 35.

Find this interesting as this time just getting back we seen many people that DID NOT look like they were 21? Maybe we are just getting older but never noticed this before...........like they looked REALLY young and actually some did not have TTR bracelets red or beige members.

35 must be the max mental age, young at heart and willing to party like your under 35 gets you in the resort. Physical age does not count or most of us would be on the outside looking in.

I'd be pretty annoyed if I was bumped to another resort, to find lots of people underage with a room. Yeah I know maybe that's a selfish view.

No I'd be ticked too, it's the whole idea of following the rules and getting screwed for it.

Escapades is the name of a UK tour operator that specialises in holidays like the old Club 18 - 30. The UK Market for the companies that still service the resort is reducing and it's a real shame. Thomas Cook could only offer me my July dates via Escapades and I was only told about it as I'd specifically asked for the resort. It would be a real pain if the only companies offering are pushing to young groups rather than couples.
