Getting excited about our upcoming first trip to Temptation next month.

Wondering how much cash to bring, since we prefer to pay cash instead of charging on credit card, esp when traveling out of the country.

So let's say for a 7 night stay, how much cash would you bring?
Pls list which possible events/occasions that we need to bring extra cash for (besides/+ tips $$$).

    $55 USA Transfer/ to&from airport:
    $200 Boobs Cruise
    $100 Misc trinkets
    $___ Possible Coco Bongo?

Also, if we run short of cash, how much does the resort charge to exchange for cash?
    Or close by Bank/ATM machine?

    Others...?

    Thanks,

Do not use the atm at the resort, it has been hacked several times. Tipping varies a lot amongst individuals. We usually take abou 800. You never know if you want a massage. The front desk will not exchange US for US. Figure ten a day each for bar tipping, that munch for breakfast and lunch combined and a bit more if you go to one of the restaurants. We take more than we feel we will need, don't trust any atm in Cancun.

I always bring at least $300 in ones and fives for tipping the maids and bartenders. As well as Boobs Cruise staff.
Last year we didn't make it to the bank and only had a bunch of twenties. Every morning at breakfast Lucero would break them for me.

    $500 to $1000 cash

But use your credit card when you can! It's the safest way to spend money! There will be lots of people that disagree with that, but if you don't believe me call your bank and or card company. They'll answer any questions you have! Remember.........if you didn't buy it, it's not your liability!

Take plenty, you can always bring it back with you. The $800 suggestion sounds about right. You can always pay for things at the end of your trip with a cc if you run short. You may have the opportunity to join someone on a yacht trip, and you would need cash for that.

I definitely would rather have more than I need than be fleeced by one of the local ATMs.

I always plan on $100 to $150 a day even if we don't plan on leaving the resort much. It always seems like there is something the wife can't live without, usually from the jewelery shop in the resort. lol.

Coming from the UK we brought £1000 last year which was about $1500, but we spent near on $450 on excursions for Chitzen Itza, Xplor, Xcaret etc. This year we plan on taking around $900 and don't really plan on leaving the resort much but we wanna buy souviners as we're starting a family next year so this will be our 3rd and final trip for a while. We take around $150 in $1 dollar bills and tip the bartenders, restaurant staff and maids daily.
