I think there are public beaches or beach clubs down by the City etc if you want more waves. Also a trip on the ferry to Isla Mujeres and a walk to the other side of the island (10 minutes at most) will get you to the open sea.

    hope that helps.

Closest point is behind Coco Bongo and The City nightclubs, take the bus there (15 mins) and just walk through between the two clubs. The best stretch of the beach imho is at Playa Delfines about a 30 min bus ride to Km 20 or thereabouts but well worth it.

I really would recommend people take the time to go visit the 'nice' beaches. On a hot sunny day the colours are amazing.

Not at Temptation, there are very few waves to speak of at this part of the bay.

If she just wants to see the waves, I totally agree Playa Delfines is the best. However, when I was there 3 weeks ago, there were red flags. (No swimming.) So we hopped the bus back to the Forum and went to that beach. The one previously mentioned, walk between The City and Coco Bongo. It's a public access point, and there were yellow flags. I was sooooo happy, because I was dying to play in the waves. The waves, the Boobs Cruise, and Chichen Itza are my 3 favorite parts of my trip. :)
