Can someone please explain how catholic priests get away with abusing young boys and girls???? There's been over 10,000 cases reported in the US alone. The lastest one was actually reported to the current POPE who was incharge of dealing with these issues a few years ago yet the priest was never dealt with. I'm not religious in anyway shape or form but this is getting beyond a joke. Something has to be done to these disgusting perverts.
It was like an epidemic a few years ago in Eastern Canada. seemed like every other week there was a news report about it. My sense is that it's usually young boys that are their victims.
Its not exactly a new issue... so long as there have been choir boys this has been going on.... I don't know why they don't just let priests marry and be done with it..... expecting humans to take vows of celibacy and not break them in some form is unrealistic IMHO.
heres the New York Times story and who can say the pope is not as bad himself he also issues an apology to the irish rather reluctantly I must add I remember the abuse scandal bringing down the dublin government a good few years back now and what about the pope's brother in Germany, this is what I would call a very close knit paedophile ring do you think they are all on the sex registers list I think not. sorry to say but disgusting perverts is to nice a word for those evil scum who commit acts of sodomy masturbation and beat young children.
My mother in law is a practising catholic and they can do nothing wrong in her eyes. I questioned her about it this week and she 'well it's on a few ball apples etc'. She refuses to believe the church knew nothing about it even though it was publisised (after his death) that the local priest where we live had been interfering with young boys and he was simply moved to another parish to do the same thing. I know some catholics are so devoted they are blind to reality when it comes to this but it's about time they stop because their church seems to be encouraging it.
It seems to me that the Catholic church would rather try to keep the abuse a secret as much as possible, rather than protect the innocent children. Rather than report the perverts to police, they just quietly move them to a different town.
There's a reason why they call Religion the Opium of the masses. The devout of any religion are blind to the cons within. Just like devout followers of politics, countries, sports teams, etc. It's probably worse with religion though because if people admit that the religion they follow is corrupt then they will feel duped. And that's putting it lightly. Imagine the global anger at the Vatican if they admitted to knowingly covering up all of those perversions.
Honest answer? Because not enough Dads are putting bullets into child molesters. It might not solve the problem but it sure would get a handel on the repeat offenders and it would save the church from having to move them around.
