I've never done this before, but I'd like to switch from the Oasis Viva, to the Oasis Cancun. If I go through Orbitz (where I booked it), they'll charge me through the nose.
Can I inquire at the Viva check in desk? Will they do it? Is there a fee? Can I do it over the phone before I get there?
    Has anyone done this before?

Just a question, why would you want to switch from the Viva (assuming its the Grand Oasis Viva Beach) to the Oasis Cancun.

Not that I've been there (YET... going in a month+), but apparently the GOVB is better than the OC. Its been (again through forums) renovated and you have access to more bars, etc. than just at the OC.

You can also check out reviews for the hotel at www.tripadvisor.com.

We're going to GOVB on Sept 27 - Oct 4.

When r u heading out there??

We're staying at the Oasis Viva, not the Grand Oasis Viva... there are at least five Oasis hotels. I've stayed at both before, just thought the college kids going with us might like the Oasis Canvun location a little better.

Boy, are all the Oasis hotels confusing... worse part is they'll probably ship us all in one Oasis together... lol

I don't know what to say. I know (correction... I've HEARD/read) that at the GOVB you have access to all other Oasis' incl. Oasis Cancun, but for the OV I don't really know. Although I wouldn't see why not.

Have you spoken to your travel agent (or if online there must be a # to contact).

    When are you booked for?

I know we have access to the other location, we've stayed at each hotel before. Just wondered if they would switch us without a charge. I thought the college kids in the group might enjoy the bigger surf at the Oasis Cancun, but after reading about beach erosion, we might be better off staying where we are. Arriving Oct. 10th
