Can anyone recommend a decent place to stay near the Cancun Airport? We've got TTR booked on the 11th of February. I'm planning on flying into Cancun late on the 10th, and crashing somewhere near the airport, then heading to the resort first thing on the 11th. This way we won't waste a day we paid for flying.

I'm interested in anyone's recommendations. Thanks.

I've not stayed at either but there are two hotels close to the airport:

    Marriott Courtyard $50-$60 per night
    and
    Comfort Inn $60-$70 per night

    Links above have more info.

The Courtyard isn't bad at all. I've stayed there once before.

I just booked a room at Aquamarina Hotel, it's about 100 yards from TTR. It's perfect. Get in late, maybe go hit a club, go back and catch some sleep, then stagger 100 yards (thats meters for you Canucks) down the sidewalk to TTR and check in the next morning.

Funny Story, I was reading the reviews for Aquamarina and they were mostly positive. One however, was only 1 star out of five. Their big complaint was that Aquamarina advertised itself as being "family friendly", but they were in plain sight of a topless beach less than 100 yards (meters) away! Hmmm, wonder if the kids did much staring?

    See you in 23 days!

only one problem that I see with your plan.. most of the rooms are not ready till 3pm so don't rush from your room at the first place.. on the other hand.. you could be ready to just drop your bags and go to the sexypool till your room is ready..

Usually we try to get there after 2:00pm because most of the rooms are ready by then.
