Try to keep it short: Just wanted to ask if anyone knows where I can find either the mixture or the ready made crusts for homemade pizzas. I yet havent seen a singe mixture-thingy, but remember seeing a ready made crust(bottom), but that was 3 years ago... Really dying for a homemade pizza, haha
They sell ready made pizza crust in Costco. It comes in a pack of three. It is usually where the cake mixes and graham cracker crust are kept.
Every Saturday nite my wife makes us home made pizza. When she is gone she leaves me the dough recipe so I can make it for myself. Of course I do not remember the recipe except that it is simple enough for me to make it. I'll have her reply when she gets home from work.
@Sapphire: Thanks for the heads up, will have a look this weekend @Jayg: Awesome, thanks! Seriously sick of Pizza Hut, Dominos and similar cr*p, haha
I spent 4 years flipping pizza in a New York pizzeria for Tony two shoes and Frank the Turk, If you want a dough recipe that serves 200 then I'm your man. The recipe itself is dead simple though mate and easy to make at home, just flour, yeast, salt, little sugar, little olive oil. As any connoisseur of NY pizza will tell you, it's all in the water...
Hi, I am Jayg's wife and have been making homemade pizza every Sat. night for over 20 years. This will make 1 round pizza pan or a 10 x 15 cookie sheet size. Start with 1/2 cup warm but not too hot water. Add 1 Tablespoon of yeast or a small yeast packet. Mix until the yeast dissolves. Add 1 and 1/2 cups flour....I use bread flour but all purpose flour would work. Then add a Tablespoon of olive oil. You can add a teas. of salt but I do not. I add about a teaspoon of granulated garlic or dried minced garlic and sometimes add about a teas. of dried basil. Mix well with a spoon and then knead with your hands until dough feels smooth and elastic. Put in a warm place to rise until it doubles. I usually preheat the oven to 200 degrees and then turn it off and let it rise in there about 15 minutes. This is northern Wisconsin and it is cold but in Cancun it will probably rise fine in your kitchen. Spread dough on a pan oiled with olive oil and bake it at 375 degrees for 5 minutes. Then add your toppings and bake about 18 minutes or until cheese is lightly browned. Just so you can all count your blessings it was -21 degrees Fahrenheit ( 30 below zero C) on my way to work this morning! Wish we were back in the Cancun area!!!!
@Jayg´s wife: THANK YOU!! Im gonna try it this weekend, cant wait! Your temperature sounds wicked. Way colder than I grew up with(Stockholm, Sweden...). I do remember that we had down to -30 at times and that every breath literally hurt... @Mat: I buy the ingredients - you come over and make ´em for me!
This is a little off from the topic, but has anyone else noticed a phenomenon here in Mexico of people putting ketchup on their pizza? I have noticed it a few times in different pizza places. So, I gave it a try and it actually gives the pizza an added dimension, sort of an extra "zing." I also splashed a little hot sauce on it too. I am not going to make a habit of eating it this way, but I may put some on once in a while after all, I did move to Mexico to try different things (I will leaving tring fried crickets to another post).
I don't mind the hot sauce, chili powder and worcestershire sauce, but it really makes me angry when they put ketchup on it! It already has delicious tomato sauce, why mess it up with crappy tomato sauce? I'll never understand some things here... On a positive note, Domino's recently changed its recipe. I used to dislike Domino's here, but now it's my new favorite! Lots of tomato sauce, lots of better cheese, and a buttery glaze on the crust! I usually skip the crust, but it's so good! (1 large pizza for $100)
