I know you can bring up to so much alcohol in your suitcase but we make homemade apple pie moonshine and put it in Mason Jars. (It is really really good) Does anyone know if you are allowed to pack something like that in your suitcase? Thanks, Mike and Linda
I just got introduced to this 2 months ago and it sure is tasty. how strong is your batch? i've seen several recipes, but it makes entirely too much for me to try. plus I can't get the 180 proof grain in Virginia.
but to answer your question, you can put it in your checked bag. I poured all my liquor into plastic soda bottles so I don't run the risk of the glass breaking.
From the Transport Security Administration: Carrying Alcohol In Your Checked Baggage Please note, you can’t take alcoholic beverages with more than 70% alcohol content (140 proof), including 95% grain alcohol and 150 proof rum, in your checked luggage. You may take up to five liters of alcohol with alcohol content between 24% and 70% per person as checked luggage if it’s packaged in a sealable bottle or flask. Alcoholic beverages with less than 24% alcohol content are not subject to hazardous materials regulations. I'm guessing if you're pulled up then they won't let it through. If you buy alcohol from a store that has a seal and a label with the proof on it then that seems ok, but making your own? I think that'll probably be seen as a security threat.
I've never had a problem getting "anything" into mexico ... I honestly think they expect it to go the other direction
It is 180 proof everclear but once it's diluted with the apple cider, juice, and sugar I'm guessing it's more like 40. I like this idea, 5 1 liter soda bottles in baggies might work. P.S. if anyone wants the recipe, let me know and I will post it
