Tracey, for those of us who haven't been there, could you tell us a little more about what it is that appeals to you about Holbox, and where you like to stay, when you go?

Holbox is beautiful. The beaches are made of tiny shells. There are very few cars- just golf buggies. The atmosphere is calm and relaxingand it feels very safe to let my kids roam freely. There are many places to stay but we always stay at Xaloc resort - some ot the rooms have air conditioning and the rooms are big enough to fit our family of 5 - which saves us money.
We always take some wine with us and a bottle of champagne, it has become a tradition to drive to the far point of the island and watch the sun set sipping the bubbly.

We have been in spring, before the crowds arrive to swim with the Whale sharks.

Its a great place to go with friends or visitors who want to experience somewhere more peaceful than Cancun.

Cancun Canuck has written some great things about Holbox on her blog- along with some photos.

    Hope that helps
