Hi forum, I've been lurking here for a few months now and thought it would be only polite to introduce myself since I already know so much about you guys! It seems like my wife and I will be moving to the Cancun area for a couple of weeks (months?) right around the first of the year so we can get our immigration ducks in a row. This is also a chance for me to see if I'm any good at working from home. Some people just can't do it! So I'm a 28 y/o USC in Phoenix. I've lived in CA, OR, WA, NC, GA, DC and now AZ... Still looking forward to change in a big way, hoping Mex will fit the bill. My other half is 25, Mex Nat'l, and mildly excited about the move... My plan, so far (if anyone cares): Vaccinate the pug!!!!! Emigrate! Buy Mex truck cash in wife's name (old beater, '92 toyo or similar) Stay in rental outside of HZ south of Cancun (playa?) til we know where we like Get quaint 1 or 2br with low ceilings and window AC units (low bills) Get telmex E1! WOOOO Host LAN parties monthly :xyxthumbs: Get Mex residency?
Hope everything goes smoothly with the move! Welcome! Never seen anyone so excited about Telmex hahahaha
TJ thanks -- luck is always nice to have. Gingation thanks, I'm just hoping the internet is not worse than what we get in Phoenix! I've suffered enough!!
Welcome! I would not have high expectations of the internet service here in Cancun. You risk being very disappointed.
Thanks Jim, I'll downgrade my excitement for computing in Cancun.. aaahhh I just saw this thread Quick Survey With the size of the fiber pipes in the gulf there's no excuse....... There are very inexpensive directional wifi bridge sets for $120 that work really well up to 2 miles... anyone up to chipping in for an OC3 or something crazy, then distributing it via wireless?
Bringing in a Dog We too are planning to bring a new pup with us when we return this fall for the winter. I've been doing a lot of research to make sure that it all goes as smooth as possible. At first I found quite a bit of conflicting and even incomplete information floating around until I landed at what I believe is the "Official Mexican" Site for what documentation is needed: ¡Viaja con mascotas! Inspection procedure, done at the airport by SAGARPA, scroll down to PETS: Procedimiento de inspección I plan to bring copies of these two Sites and information along with us! At the Cancun airport SAGARPA personnel work M - F, 9 AM - 5 PM so if flying in make sure to schedule your arrival accordingly. An older thread here with some actual incoming experiences: Dezzie (my dog) : Cancun
Awesome info, thanks Mole! I almost want to try it first with a stuffed animal just as a test run... If anything happened to Che, my wife would... Oh man I shudder to think........
I have traveled to the States with my Dog a few times. It's not that difficult, nor as stressful as you may think, well the Cancun Airport part. The flights sucks cause you can't offer any comfort. If you have any questions, please PM me. I am doing it again next Saturday.
